Writing at Night

I have been considering working at night. Since the bubba came I am dog tired. But it’s surprising how much you can do on little sleep. So here’s what I’ve been thinking – I have to get up around 3 in the morning anyway to feed the boy. Why not stay up an extra hour and get some writing done? Read more…

Rediscovering My Earliest Writing

My mum brought round a few of my old things recently, and among them was some of my earliest writing. I’ve written before that although there are many times when I didn’t realise it, or where I got distracted, my “thing” has always been writing. Seeing these pieces and remembering others reminds me that writing was my first love, and I’m still not giving it the attention it deserves. Read more…

What particularly bugs me about it is the fact that they get books written about their dull uninteresting lives. What about the rest of us? What is freehand good for?

In this technology driven society, we get used to hearing that things are, or are soon-to-be obsolete. It’s almost never the case of course. We still have theatre, radio, books etc. Remember Egon in Ghostbusters saying, “print is dead”?

Another example – I remember thinking, why would I ever write something freehand again, when electronic typing is so convenient? But it certainty has its uses. Read more…
