Howdy! I hope 2013 was great for you and you got lots of writing done! I bet I can guess what your new year’s resolution is. To celebrate, here are some of the best Get Me Writing posts from this year. Enjoy!

It’s been a great year for Get Me Writing. As well as the usual posts and visits from you fine folk, we now have a newsletter (over to the right) and a mobile version of the site. Yes, I know they took forever, but they’re here now, and much more is planned for 2014!

But without further ado, let’s cast a nostalgic eye over the year that was 2013…

Craig’s Crafting an Epic series

Okay, I’m cheating a little here – this is a whole bunch of posts! Craig’s insights into creating a story that spans several books has become epic in itself. In it he shares what he has learnt by working on the first book in a series.

An oldie but a goody, this post first appeared in –. It makes the cut here because it underwent an extensive reworking. I’ve added two more tools, bringing the total up to five. There are also links to the other IF posts on the site, so if this piques your interest, prepare to take a deep dive!

What Brings you Back to Writing?

For many of us, we know we have to be writers because we keep coming back to it – even if we think we’ve fallen out of love with scribing stories something drags us back (sometimes kicking and screaming). What is it?

Three Sure-Fire Ways to Prepare your Characters

This popular post goes through a couple of techniques we’ve covered before, and adds a new one, which is, as they say, a doozy.

So there we have it folks. I hope you’ve enjoyed this year of Get Me Writing posts!

If you’re new here and like what you’ve read, there’s plenty more where that came from! Maybe you could try the highlights from 2012 or 2011, or pick a category. And don’t forget the newsletter signup is only a short distance (as the mouse flies) up to the top-right of the site.

Over to you:
Do you have a favourite post of 2013? That would be a really good ego-boost for us! Please, let us know!
